GREEN TECHNOLOGY SINGAPORE

Technology and innovation hold the keys to the future and what better place for the future innovators of tomorrow to learn about Green Technology than Singapore, which has been at the forefront of environmental technology and sustainability for 40 years.

Course Overview

The Singapore Green Technology Programme aims to give students an introduction to many of the global problems facing us all and what is being done to address them. Students will have fun hands on lessons where key principles are illustrated by experiments and in the afternoon visit some of the world’s leading centres on urban farming, waste management, and renewable energy.

Through the course of the two weeks and the final collaborative group project we hope to instill inspiration in students to pursue green technology in the future themselves.

What You Will Learn

Through the context of Singapore students will learn about the delicate balance between growth and development and protecting the environment.

Learning Objectives
Gain foundational knowledge in a variety of interrelated subjects. Learn about about modern urban problems and how they can be addressed.
Key Concepts
Urban farming techniques, water filtration and management, recycling and waste management, and renewable energy sources.
Activities
Students supplement lessons with fun hands on experiments including constructing solar powered ovens, wind-powered cars, and water filtration systems just to name a few.
Outcome
Students tie it all together at the end of the two weeks and working with teammates present their own designs for a “city of tomorrow”.
