Course Overview

The Bali Cultural Discovery & Eco-Learning Journey is a 7-day experiential programme that immerses students in Bali’s vibrant culture, natural landscapes, and community life. Through a combination of hands-on workshops, outdoor adventures, and meaningful service-learning experiences, students explore traditional arts, local customs, and sustainability practices while gaining real-world insight into Balinese society. Designed around 21st-century learning skills and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, this journey encourages learners to think critically, act responsibly, and engage deeply with both people and the environment.

What You Will Learn

Students will learn to appreciate cultural diversity, understand environmental issues, and practice sustainable habits while developing creativity, teamwork, and resilience. Through real-world interactions and field-based learning, they gain insights into social challenges, traditional arts, and the importance of community involvement, ultimately growing into more aware and responsible global citizens.

Learning Objectives

This programme aims to cultivate cultural appreciation, environmental awareness, and social responsibility through curated experiences that allow students to understand Balinese traditions, witness local community efforts, and participate in eco-conscious activities. Students will develop creativity through Batik-making and recycled craft workshops, enhance communication and teamwork during outdoor excursions, and build empathy and global-mindedness through interactions with community organizations and rural villages. The journey encourages students to reflect on their role as global citizens and apply their learning to real-life contexts.

Key Concepts

Throughout the programme, students explore cultural heritage, community resilience, environmental conservation, and sustainable living while engaging in creative expression and experiential learning. These concepts are seamlessly integrated into activities that highlight the importance of tradition, ecology, and social impact in shaping Bali’s identity.

Activities

Students will take part in a variety of immersive activities, including city exploration in Denpasar, a cultural visit to Ubud Palace, and engagement with Balinese youth social spaces. They will experience hands-on learning through Batik-making, seashell recycling crafts, and Balinese cooking, while outdoor adventures such as cycling from Mount Batur to Ubud provide opportunities to connect with nature and contribute to a village clean-up initiative. A visit to a local foundation supporting underprivileged children further deepens students’ understanding of community challenges and the importance of compassion and support systems.

Outcome

By the end of the programme, students will have gained a richer appreciation for Indonesian culture, a stronger understanding of sustainability and environmental responsibility, and a heightened sense of empathy through community engagement. They will return with enhanced creative, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, along with increased confidence in navigating new environments. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion and an academic learning report to recognize their achievements.

Certificates, Recommendation
Letter and Report Samples

Upon completing the programme, students receive a certificate of participation, a detailed education report highlighting their learning progress and achievements, and a sample recommendation letter. These documents recognize their skills, growth, and engagement, providing valuable records for future academic or professional pursuits.
