Course Overview
The South Korea Tech & STEM Discovery Programme immerses students in one of the world’s most innovative and technologically advanced nations. From global giants like Samsung and LG to cutting-edge research centres and inspiring science museums, students gain first-hand exposure to Korea’s dynamic engineering, digital innovation, and STEM education ecosystem. Through industry visits, hands-on workshops, and a guided exploration of Korea’s smart city culture, the programme empowers students to understand how technology shapes modern life while developing creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills essential for the future.
What You Will Learn
Students will learn how Korea became a global tech leader, understand the basic principles behind electronics and digital engineering, and explore how innovation shapes modern urban living. They will gain insights into semiconductors, robotics, smart-home technologies, and sustainability, while building practical STEM skills through interactive workshops and teamwork-based challenges.
Learning Objectives
This programme introduces students to South Korea’s rapid rise as a global tech leader and helps them experience innovation in action through curated visits and interactive sessions. Students will learn the foundational principles behind engineering and design, discover how Korean companies approach technology and manufacturing, and reflect on how STEM impacts everyday life—from smartphones and semiconductors to transportation, sustainability, and smart cities. By engaging with real-world a
Key Concepts
Students will explore major concepts such as technological evolution, semiconductor engineering, robotics fundamentals, smart device innovation, AI and digital transformation, sustainable urban development, and Korea’s culture of precision design. These concepts are reinforced through immersive experiences at leading tech museums, R&D centres, and interactive workshops.
Activities
The programme features a rich line-up of experiential activities including a visit to the Samsung Innovation Museum in Suwon, where students trace the global history of electronics and semiconductor breakthroughs. At LG Science Hall or LG Twin Towers, students dive into AI technology, smart-home systems, and next-generation mobility solutions. Additional highlights include hands-on robotics or coding workshops, interactive science exhibits at top museums such as Gwacheon National Science Museum, and a Mini Innovation Challenge where teams design a Korea-inspired tech concept or prototype.
Outcome
By the end of the programme, students will be able to clearly describe Korea’s contributions to global technology, such as advancements in semiconductors, smartphones, robotics, and gaming. They will gain confidence in explaining basic engineering concepts in simple terms and demonstrate curiosity through observation, note-taking, and group presentations. Students will also strengthen teamwork and creativity by participating in a STEM mini challenge, applying what they’ve learned to develop their own innovative idea or prototype.
Certificates, Recommendation Letter and Report Samples
Upon completing the programme, students receive a certificate of participation, a detailed education report highlighting their learning progress and achievements, and a sample recommendation letter. These documents recognize their skills, growth, and engagement, providing valuable records for future academic or professional pursuits.
