Course Overview
Australia is known globally for its incredible array of unique animals and environmental habitats. From the Kangaroo and Koala to the Outback and the Great Barrier Reef – Australia really is a true natural wonder full of biodiversity.
BlueSky’s Sustainable Future Programme allows students to explore these natural habitats and learn about the ways in which we can protect this natural world around us. Key concepts will be reinforced by fun in-class experiments and field work in various regions around Sydney including soil and water tests. use of wind and solar energy etc.
What You Will Learn
This course encourages students to think critically about real world issues and work together to come up with new ways of thinking about the planet around us and the challenges it faces. The course will be taught through a mix of interactive activities, group work and field work around the campus and greater Sydney. Students will develop research and presentation skills through our 3D Project Cities of the Future Finale Competition, learning key tricks for research, presentation for data, and speaking techniques.
Learning Objectives
Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to generate creative, sustainable solutions for the “Cities of the Future” through the class project competition.
Key Concepts
How to undertake and present research, effective usage of facts and statistics, how to develop an idea, how to engage an audience.
Activities
Students will engage in fun group activities to build self confidence and comfort with classmates. Lessons are supplemented with debates and in-class presentations. From day one students are speaking and participating all the time.
Outcome
Students learn how to shine on stage, pulling together all the knew knowledge and skills they’ve learned through the week to give a presentation on a topic of their choice during our star studded finale night.
